How to Forward Slack Notifications to KopyKat

Step-by-step guide to integrating your Slack workspace with KopyKat.

    Published on Jan 1, 2026

Slack is an essential tool for team communication, but important messages can easily get lost in the constant stream of channels and threads. By forwarding Slack email notifications to KopyKat, you can search and chat with your Slack history alongside your regular email. Here's how to set it up.

    Why Forward Slack to KopyKat?

Slack's built-in search is limited, especially on free plans. By forwarding Slack notifications to KopyKat, you get:

    • Permanent, searchable archive of important Slack messages
    • Natural language search across both email and Slack content
    • AI-powered insights from your team communications
    • A unified view of all your professional communications

Step 1: Get Your KopyKat Email Address

First, log in to your KopyKat dashboard. Your personal KopyKat email address is displayed at the top of the chat interface and in the Setup modal. It looks something like yourname.x92a@kopykat.ai. Copy this address—you'll need it in the next step.

Step 2: Update Your Slack Email

You have two options for connecting Slack to KopyKat:

Option A: Use KopyKat as Your Slack Email

When joining a new Slack workspace, use your KopyKat email address as your sign-up email. Slack will send all notifications directly to KopyKat. This is the simplest approach for new workspaces.

Option B: Add KopyKat as a Secondary Email

For existing Slack workspaces, you can add your KopyKat email as a secondary email address in your Slack profile settings. Then configure notifications to go to that address.

Step 3: Configure Slack Notification Preferences

In Slack, go to Preferences → Notifications → Email. Configure which notifications you want to receive via email:

    • Direct messages: Recommended for important one-on-one conversations
    • Mentions: Get notified when someone @mentions you
    • Channel activity: Set up digests for important channels

We recommend starting with direct messages and mentions, then adjusting based on your needs.

    Step 4: Verify the Connection

If Slack requires email verification, the verification code or link will appear in your KopyKat Setup modal. Click the Slack tab to see any pending verification codes. Enter the code in Slack or click the verification link to complete the connection.

    Step 5: Start Chatting

Once configured, Slack notifications will flow into KopyKat automatically. You can now ask questions like:

    • "What did the team discuss about the product launch?"
    • "Show me messages from Sarah in the last week"
    • "What action items were mentioned in the engineering channel?"

    Tips for Best Results

    • Be selective: Don't forward every notification. Focus on channels and conversations that matter most.
    • Use email digests: For busy channels, Slack's email digest feature provides a summary rather than individual notifications.
    • Combine with email: KopyKat works best when it has context from both your email and Slack communications.

That's it! You've successfully connected Slack to KopyKat. Your team communications are now searchable alongside your email, giving you a complete picture of your professional communications.
